Saturday the 17th of July 2004
Witnessed the arrival of GWR Hall class number 4936 Kinlet Hall in Blackpool North station.
In the days of steam, the furthest north a Great Western locomotive ventured was Birkenhead on services from London Paddington. As far as is known this is the first appearance of any type of GWR engine in the famous resort.
Arrival on the Fylde coast was quarter of an hour early. The excursion was organised by Vintage Trains, and originated from Dorridge and Walsall.
