| Saturday the 2nd of August, 2003An interloper, in the shape of Gresley A4 pacific number
60009, Union of South Africa, is seen taking the avoiding line at Kirkham and
Wesham, on Saturday the 2nd of August, 2003. The engine was the rostered motive
power for the Fishwick Fellsman which ran over the Settle to Carlisle line, and
enjoyed a stop in the Cumbrian city. This is only the second time an A4 pacific
has visited Blackpool, the first was none other than 60022 Mallard, the world
speed record holder, which hauled an excursion from Retford on Saturday the 30th
of September 1961.
